We took our own personal entry way from outdated to updated. We liked the detailed staircase except it had an old-fashioned charm, and felt a little dark and uninviting. It felt right to make some changes to transform the space into something timeless and welcoming. After some brainstorming and many design revisions, I decided to lean into my travel inspiration to Europe where I visited Marie Antoinette’s Versaille The Queen’s New Apartment. I loved the contrast of the black and white floor and the beautiful blue doors with a simple cream background in the corridors of the home.

This was a project my husband decided to tackle, so he first worked tirelessly to remove the old flooring and install the new black and white checkered tiles. The transformation was immediate. The entry room was now bright and airy, and the classic design added a touch of glamour to the space. We continued with the staircase and the timeless barn door addition. We then added some personal touches to the room, like the Elliot Bench and some artwork under a carefully curated picture light.
